Bienvenido a Lima!

I'm on the hunt for a 3-pronged adapter...so I'm going to type this post at lightning speed before my battery runs out. So, please excuse any spelling errors!

Yesterday was quite possibly the longest day of my life. I was at the airport by 4 a.m. and finally got here to my house at 2 a.m. What a birthday. But I have a lovely send-off from my dear friends Kelly and Lara and my great parents. I also got an entire envelope of very sweet cards from my friends at school. I opened them on the plane, and the two people sitting next to me were a little concerned because I sat there sobbing for no apparent reason. : ) Of course, it was the good kind of crying. I just feel so loved!

My house is lovely. There is a courtyard in the middle of the house. And there are pigeons in the courtyard. I have my own little suite. I climb a spiral staircase to get to my room. :-)

Pochy, my host mother, is sweet. We have been speaking Spanglish to each other, which has been a relief to me. I was really afraid that I wouldn't understand a word. Which, sometimes I don't. But that's okay.

This morning I had fresh squeezed orange juice. I was so excited. The maid who made it was shocked that I would drink anything but fresh OJ. Funny.

Lima is huge. I mean, I knew it would be...a city of 8 million. But holy moly, it's not Appleton!

Okay, time to go!

Chao!
